Pause that Quote

This year, March, I resumed blogging after a gap of nearly ten years. My last blog was published in 2005 and I updated it monthly. This one, daily.

So why was I missing from blogosphere in-between? Well, I moved countries for a few years, then returned back to India and found time and inclination to travel solo through the length of my own country about five years ago.

Sadly, when I wanted to write all of this up, my employer blocked access to any and all social networking sites including WP and Blogspot. Given that I was up-to twelve hours on the job, I couldn’t do a thing. Sometime in-between I discovered various travel forums that were not blocked and contributed enthusiastically to those. At the moment I’m not working, and so there’s nothing stopping me from telling these stories other than a lack of feedback from my readers 🙂

This post, that best qualifies as a pause in the ongoing Spiti Saga (where I started from Shimla and moved through the valleys of Kinnaur and Spiti) is intended to ask you, my early community members whether I should change the name of the blog? My logic is as follows –

This blog will be a summary of solo trips undertaken over five years with some very detailed trip reports. It will also, increasingly, include reflections on what I saw, sometimes photographed, but often didn’t fully understand and have had the time to research now.

I am thinking of moving to a self hosted plan and also contemplating renaming this blog. I read some tips in the blogging U that said ‘the blog name should reflect the content’ – that’s understandable. So, do you, dear reader, think the name’s fine? Should I change? To flog the bard, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I really have my doubts on whether that applies to the inter-web.

Please comment. What matters most to me is that my readers Open up to me and tell me what they thought of what I’ve written and whether they’d like to hear more from me 🙂

p.s. Spiti saga will resume shortly, like as soon as I hear from y’all . For now, a photo of the incredibly carved door handle of Ki monastery.

p.s. to get the three day quote challenge over with, I nominate-

1. American Alchemist.
2. Flowers and Breezes.

3. The Fragmentary Girl

(The quote challenge is easy, find a way to weave a quote in your post, thank the person who got you into this and find three new scapegoats). 😉

  1. This is the first time I am stopping by on your blog and not a regular reader. My advice would be to do what you want to do. Don’t go by the rule book, listen to your heart and take a call. Self-hosted is a good decision. I took that last year and I like the perks that come along.

Parul from Happiness & Food and found you via the Daily Post prompt page, Open.

  2. In my opinion, the current name is just perfect. 🙂
And moreover, what’s in a name! It is only the content that matters. 🙂
